MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The East Mississippi women’s basketball team dropped a 57-49 decision at Northwest-Shoals Saturday afternoon in non-divisional action.
Freshman guard Natalie Tate of Columbus and sophomore forward Martika Hull combined for 32 of EMCC’s 49 points with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Failing to reach the 50-point mark for the second time in the last three games, the Lady Lions struggled offensively by hitting just 32 percent (18-of-57 FGs) from the field. Hull, a former standout at Southeast Lauderdale High School, added a team-high 13 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season and 12th of her collegiate career. In improving to 12-5 on the year, the Patriots of Northwest-Shoals were led by Jasmine Horne’s 15 points and 10 rebounds. ReRe Bell and Nikkia Jordan added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the winners. Head coach Sharon Thompson’s 8-7 Lady Lions, along with head coach Mark White’s 14-2 and North Division-leading EMCC men, resume divisional play by traveling to Moorhead to take on Mississippi Delta Monday evening. The East Mississippi teams then head to Goodman to meet Holmes in a Thursday hoops doubleheader. |
