EMCC Lady Lions add pair of out-of-state players to women's hoops roster
SCOOBA, Miss. – EMCC women’s basketball coach Sharon Thompson has added Rickeisha Bryant and Malashia Chandler from the talent-laden Florida and Georgia high school ranks, respectively, to the Lady Lions’ list of incoming signees for the upcoming campaign.

A 6-foot-3 forward/center, Bryant posted per-game averages of around 13 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for head coach Frank Marion III at Homestead (Fla.) Senior High School this past season.  Chosen for this year’s Dade-Broward and Tri-County All-Star Games, Bryant’s best performance of her senior season with the 13-8 Lady Broncos was a 24-point, 24-rebound effort against South Dade.

As a junior, Bryant was named All-Dade Honorable Mention for Class 6A and 5A schools by The Miami Herald newspaper.  Listed on Sunshine State Exposure’s Super 25 for the Class of 2009, Bryant competed for several years on head coach Eugene White’s Homestead Lady Soldiers’ AAU team.

Chandler, a 5-foot-7 guard, played her senior season at Westlake High School in Atlanta after transferring from Morrow (Ga.) High School.  This past year, she helped lead head coach Hilda Hankerson’s 27-2 Westlake Lions to the quarterfinals of the Class AAAAA state tournament.

As a junior at Morrow, Chandler averaged nearly six points and six rebounds per outing for head coach Yolanda Jenkins’ 19-9 Lady Mustangs.  As a three-year varsity team member at Morrow, she helped lead MHS to a composite record of 66-17, including the 2006-07 Region 4-AAAAA championship.  Chandler has also competed for head coach Michael Sheffield’s Atlanta Celtics AAU club.

Bryant and Chandler join previously announced EMCC women’s basketball signees RoTasha Windom (5-11, F, Kemper County HS), Shavantis Thomas (5-11, F, Oxford HS), Keyosha Robinson (5-7, G, Southeast Lauderdale HS), Alvionna Knox (6-1, F/C, Weir HS), Natalie Tate (5-4, G, Columbus HS), and Nashedra Barry (6-1, F, Columbus HS).
