Top-ranked EMCC’s football season opener against Pearl River has been rescheduled for Saturday afternoon because of impending weather conditions expected from Tropical Storm Isaac this week. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Sullivan-Windham Field on the Scooba campus.
SCOOBA – Due to the impending weather conditions expected from Tropical Storm Isaac, this week’s East Mississippi Community College football season opener against visiting Pearl River Community College has been rescheduled for Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1, on the Scooba campus.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field.

Originally slated for Thursday evening (Aug. 30), the EMCC-PRCC non-division contest will mark the season opener for both teams.  Fifth-year head coach Buddy Stephens’ EMCC Lions enter the 2012 campaign as the nation’s No. 1 team in the NJCAA Preseason Top 20 football poll after claiming a school-first NJCAA National Championship a year ago with a 55-47 victory over Arizona Western College in the El Toro Bowl played in Yuma, Ariz.
