East Mississippi Lions to hold baseball tryouts May 18 on Scooba campus Print E-mail
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College will hold baseball tryouts on Wednesday, May 18 on the Scooba campus.  Tryouts are set to begin at 1 p.m. on EMCC’s Gerald Poole Field.

Open to high school seniors who have not been previously protected by any NJCAA member school while having also completed their senior season, EMCC’s baseball tryouts will be conducted by East Mississippi head baseball coach Chris Rose and assistant coaches Michael Wallace and Josh Snider.


Tryout participants are asked to bring their own baseball equipment, including gloves, cleats, bats and helmets.  Catchers are asked to bring their own equipment as well.

The EMCC Lions most recently forced the 13th-ranked Jones County Bobcats into a decisive Game 3 during last week’s best-of-three MACJC state playoff series played in Ellisville.  While making their first postseason baseball playoff appearance since 2004, the Lions finished the 2011 campaign with their best league record (14-10) in MACJC North Division play since the 1998 season.
