| EMCC Lady Lions to hold softball tryouts May 24 on Scooba campus |

SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College will hold softball tryouts on Tuesday, May 24 on the Scooba campus. Tryouts are set to begin at 4 p.m. on the EMCC Softball Field.
Open to high school seniors who have not been previously protected by any NJCAA member school, EMCC’s softball tryouts will be conducted by East Mississippi head softball coach Kate Neely and assistant coach Casey Finch. Senior players who have completed their 2011 high school softball season are encouraged to contact the EMCC coaches in advance of the May 24 tryout date. Tryout participants are asked to bring their own softball equipment, including gloves, cleats, bats and helmets. Catchers are asked to bring their own equipment as well. The EMCC Lady Lions recently completed their most successful season in the school’s fastpitch softball history by claiming the program’s first-ever MACJC North Division fastpitch championship and advancing to NJCAA Region 23 Tournament play for the first time since 2002. With a three-year composite league record of 52-20 against North Division competition, East Mississippi has participated in the MACJC State Softball Tournament each of the last three seasons. |
