Due to Friday’s inclement weather in the Florida Panhandle region, the 2011 EMCC Lions will now make their season baseball debut Saturday afternoon against Georgia Perimeter College at the Gulf Coast CC-hosted Kevin Miller Baseball Bash in Panama City, Fla.
SCOOBA – The 2011 season debut of the East Mississippi Community College baseball team will be delayed a day due to inclement weather around the Florida Panhandle region.  Instead of a three-day tournament, the Gulf Coast Community College-hosted Kevin Miller Baseball Bash will be shortened to two days in Panama City, Fla.

Originally scheduled to begin on Friday, the GCCC event will now take place on Saturday and Sunday with three games scheduled each day.  All games are slated to be played at Gulf Coast’s Frazier Field and are scheduled to be covered on the Gulf Coast Sports Network via the DakStats webcast game links located at www.gcathletics.com.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Chris Rose, the EMCC Lions are set to take on Georgia Perimeter College in Saturday’s second game at 2 p.m. CT.  The Lions will close out the two-day event by meeting the host Gulf Coast CC Commodores at 4 p.m. CT Sunday afternoon.

Andrew College (Ga.), Alabama Southern CC and Wallace State-Hanceville (Ala.) are also scheduled to participate in this weekend’s second annual baseball event named in honor of Kevin Miller, a former Gulf Coast player and coach who died in 2005 at the age of 32 following an automobile accident.
