Thursday’s EMCC-Northeast Mississippi basketball doubleheader has been postponed until Saturday afternoon (Feb. 5) on the Scooba campus. Tip-off times are set for 2 and 4 p.m. at EMCC’s Keyes T. Currie Coliseum.
SCOOBA – Tonight’s basketball doubleheader between host East Mississippi Community College and visiting Northeast Mississippi Community College has been postponed until Saturday due to wintry weather conditions within the state of Mississippi.

Tip-off times for Saturday’s makeup date will be 2 p.m. for the women’s game and 4 p.m. for the men’s contest at EMCC’s Keyes T. Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus.

The EMCC-Northeast contests will pit four of the leading contenders within the MACJC’s North Division standings.  In the women’s standings, head coach Sharon Thompson’s EMCC Lady Lions (11-7, 6-2) own a one-game lead over the third-place Northeast women (10-8, 5-3).  Itawamba currently leads the division with a 7-0 division record.

On the men’s side, head coach Mark White’s 15th-ranked EMCC Lions (17-2, 8-0) hold a three-game advantage over second-place Northeast Mississippi (9-10, 5-3).  The Lions are the reigning NJCAA Region 23 and MACJC North Division champions.  The ICC men are presently in third place with a 4-3 league mark.

The Lions currently own a seven-game winning streak, while the EMCC women have won four straight contests heading into Saturday's action against Northeast.

Two weeks ago (Jan. 22) in a Saturday makeup doubleheader played in Booneville, the visiting EMCC basketball teams swept Northeast Mississippi by scores of 61-52 in the women’s contest and 91-81 in the men’s game.
