SCOOBA, Miss. – East Mississippi Community College’s Quinton Dial and Brad Henderson have closed out their standout junior college football careers by being named 2010 NJCAA All-Americans, as announced Thursday by the NJCAA office headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo.  Dial, a defensive lineman, was selected to the NJCAA’s second team, while Henderson earned honorable mention status as a quarterback.

A University of Alabama signee from Clay, Ala., Dial ranked third on this year’s EMCC team with 76 total tackles (46 solos & 30 assists), including 3.5 sacks and four other tackles for loss.  The 6-foot-6, 315-pound sophomore was also credited with two pass breakups, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery this past season.

Dial previously collected 2010 NJCAA All-Region 23 and MACJC All-North Division accolades earlier this postseason for the Lions.  During his prep playing days at Clay-Chalkville High School, Dial was tabbed the state of Alabama’s Class 6A Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2008, in addition to being selected to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Super 12 and All-State First Team as a senior.

A 6-foot, 215-pound signal-caller, Henderson ranked second nationally in passing yards per game (276.3 yds/gm) this past year and rated third among NJCAA statistical leaders with an average of 308.3 yards of total offense per contest.  The former Starkville High School product completed 60 percent (232-of-388) of his passes for 2,763 yards, 26 touchdowns and only seven interceptions as a sophomore.

Along with previously being voted by the league’s head coaches as the MVP among the offensive backs of the MACJC’s North Division, Henderson shared 2010 NJCAA All-Region 23 quarterbacking honors with Region 23 MVP and NJCAA First Team All-American Melvin German of Pearl River Community College.

Having put together a 24-8 composite record with three straight state playoff appearances under third-year head coach Buddy Stephens, the East Mississippi Lions have now had a total of seven NJCAA All-American football selections over the past three seasons.  Joining two-time NJCAA All-American quarterback Randall Mackey, now with the Ole Miss Rebels, have been offensive lineman Quartney Cox (UAB), Leon Berry (Mississippi State) and Jamar Hornsby for EMCC.
