SCOOBA – East Mississippi’s Drew Vaughan has been named to the 2010 MACJC All-North Division baseball team, as selected this week by the state’s junior college head baseball coaches.

A former standout at Columbus’ Heritage Academy, Vaughan ranked as EMCC’s second-leading hitter with a .360 batting average this past season as a sophomore.  A 45-game starter primarily at second base for the 23-25 Lions, Vaughan had nine doubles, two home runs and a triple in 2010.  Along with going 13-of-15 in the stolen base department this past year, he also ranked among the team leaders with 50 hits, 29 runs scored and 26 runs batted in.

North Division champion Itawamba had a team-most three players (Ladarrius Cole, Joseph Koon and Will Irvin) represented on this year’s MACJC All-North Division club, followed by Holmes, Northeast Mississippi and Northwest Mississippi with two selections apiece.

The MACJC’s All-South Division baseball team was headlined by divisional champion Jones County’s trio of honorees – Corey Williams, Tyler Gardner and Andrew Pierce.

Cole and Koon of ICC, as well as JCJC’s Gardner and Pierce, were also chosen to the 2010 NJCAA All-Region 23 baseball team.
