SCOOBA – Sophomore pitcher Courtney Nunn of East Mississippi Community College has been named to the 2010 NJCAA All-Region 23 softball team.  Selected by a vote of the region’s head softball coaches, the 15-player team was announced this week.

A native of Jonesboro, La., Nunn compiled a 16-22 pitching record and 3.30 earned run average this past year for head coach Kate Neely’s 20-30 EMCC Lady Lions.  The 5-foot-6 right-hander also had 217 strikeouts in 231.1 innings as a sophomore to help lead East Mississippi to an 18-6 league record, second-place finish in the MACJC’s North Division standings and a second straight state tournament appearance.

For her two-year career on the Scooba campus, Nunn put together a 26-34 composite record in the circle while averaging a strikeout per inning with 373 career strikeouts in 373.2 innings.  The former Jonesboro-Hodge High School standout helped EMCC register a two-year overall record of 44-53, including an impressive 33-15 composite divisional mark and back-to-back berths in the MACJC State Softball Tournament.
