SCOOBA –With recent heavy rains around the state playing havoc with mid-week scheduling, the East Mississippi baseball and softball teams have set revised home slates for Thursday and Friday of this week.
After rain forced postponement of their MACJC North Division softball opener against Northeast Mississippi on Wednesday, head coach Kate Neely’s EMCC Lady Lions will now play host to the Lady Tigers of NEMCC Thursday afternoon in a softball doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. on the Scooba campus. Also on Thursday, head coach Tony Montgomery’s 10-6 EMCC baseball team returns to the field after nearly a two-week break from competition by playing host to Hibbing Community College from Minnesota in a doubleheader set to begin at 5 p.m. at Gerald Poole Field on the Scooba campus. In Mississippi this week playing various in-state teams during their spring break, Hibbing will take on EMCC again on Friday in an 11 a.m. single contest. Because their Tuesday twinbill against Jones County, slated to be played at Copiah-Lincoln’s field in Wesson, was rained out, Hibbing will make up one of the JCJC games Friday on the EMCC campus at around 1 p.m. The 15-1 Jones Bobcats will stay in Scooba to meet the EMCC Lions Friday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m. in an added game to East Mississippi’s 2010 baseball slate.
