FOREST – The East Mississippi men’s golf team notched its second straight fifth-place team finish at the year’s second MACJC event held this past weekend at the Forest Country Club.

Head coach Dale Peay’s EMCC Lions improved by six strokes from Saturday to Sunday (315-309--624), but still finished the two-day event 10 strokes behind fourth-place East Central (309-305—614) and 13 shots behind Copiah-Lincoln (307-304—611).  For the second time in as many spring events, the two-time reigning NJCAA Region 23 champions of Mississippi Gulf Coast (295-292—587) claimed team honors with a 9-stroke victory over runner-up Northeast Mississippi (298-298—596).

Sophomore Michael Lauseng, of Bossier City, La., paced the Lion linksters with a 6-over-par 148 (74-74) to finish in a five-way tie for fourth place at the 5,986-yard, par-71 layout.  MGCCC’s Colin McNamara (74-72—146) earned individual medalist honors with a 1-stroke edge over the Northeast tandem of Stephen Poole (74-73—147) and Daniel Singh (73-74—147).

The EMCC trio of Trey Adams (80-79), Garrett Alford (79-80) and Reed Aldridge (83-76) all tied for 31st place with identical 159 totals.  Ian McAdams tied for 39th place (82-81—163), while sophomore Will Black claimed a 24th-place tie (80-75—155) participating as an individual.

The season’s third MACJC golf event is set to take place March 8-9 at Copiah-Lincoln’s Wolf Hollow Golf Club in Wesson.
