![]() East Mississippi’s Keyes T. Currie Coliseum will play host to the 2010 MACJC State Basketball Tournament, Feb. 22-25. Men’s action tips off Monday with women’s play beginning on Tuesday on the Scooba campus. With men’s first-round action set for Monday (Feb. 22) and women’s opening-round play tipping off Tuesday, the EMCC-hosted state tournament will be held at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus. Game times are set for noon, 2 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Semifinal-round activity in both men’s and women’s competition will take place Wednesday, followed by 5:30 p.m. (women’s) and 7:30 p.m. (men’s) championship contests on Thursday. Ticket prices for next week’s MACJC State Basketball Tournament will be $5 per day for all school-aged children and adults. Children 5 years of age and younger will be admitted free of charge. A $15 all-tournament pass will also be available for purchase. Head coach Mark White’s eighth-ranked EMCC Lions, 21-4 overall and 10-2 as MACJC North Division champions, will highlight Monday’s first-round action by taking on No. 4 South seed Mississippi Gulf Coast (17-8, 7-5) at 7:30 p.m. North runners-up Itawamba (16-8, 8-4) will tip off tournament action with a noon encounter against third-seeded Hinds (18-6, 8-4), followed by South champions Pearl River (20-4, 10-2) and No. 4 North seed Holmes (10-13, 6-6) at 2 p.m. Second-seeded and defending state champions Jones County (16-8, 9-3) of the South Division will meet No. 3 seed Northeast Mississippi (12-10, 7-5) at 5:30 p.m. to begin Monday’s evening session. Seeded fourth in the North Division with a 14-11 overall record and 8-4 league mark, head coach Sharon Thompson’s defending NJCAA Region 23 champion EMCC Lady Lions will entertain nationally third-ranked and undefeated Copiah-Lincoln (23-0, 12-0) to cap Tuesday’s opening-round women’s action.
