Weston Wallace of Northwest Rankin High School signed with head coach Dale Peay’s EMCC golf program this past week.
SCOOBA – Northwest Rankin’s Weston Wallace has signed a national letter-of-intent to play golf at East Mississippi Community College, as announced this week by EMCC men’s golf coach Dale Peay.

Currently ranked as the state’s No. 6 golfer in the Mississippi Junior Golf Association standings, Wallace was selected to the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) All-State Second Team during his sophomore and junior seasons at Northwest Rankin High School.  He was also the winner of the 2005 Mutual of Omaha’s Drive, Chip and Putt Competition for the state of Mississippi, finishing first in the state in each event for 13 and 14 year olds to advance to the national semifinals held in Shreveport, La.

Wallace helped lead Northwest Rankin to a runner-up finish in the 2008 Class 5A State Golf Championships.  At 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, Wallace was also a member of NWR’s football team the past two years, starting as a wide receiver and holding on placekicks during the Cougars’ 2009 state playoff season.

Off the links, Wallace excels in community service activities, having most recently been awarded the 2010 Entergy Community Power Scholarship for his efforts.  He has earned the Distinguished Service Award during each of his four high school academic years and was one of 10 NWR students chosen by teachers and counselors to receive the Northwest Rankin Citizenship Award in 2007-08 and 2006-07.

A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization as well as the Beta and Key Clubs at Northwest Rankin, Wallace is the son of Frank and Bunny Wallace of Brandon.
