| EMCC's Hal Larkin continues steady play at NJCAA Golf Championship |

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – EMCC sophomore Hal Larkin continued his consistent play by firing a 4-over-par 76 during Thursday’s third round of the 2009 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship being held at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course.
Playing to within three strokes through each of the first three rounds, Larkin enters Friday’s final round in a four-way tie for 69th place with a composite score of 15-over-par 231. The former Caledonia High School standout opened the four-day event with rounds of 77 and 78 on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Brian Affleck of Potomac State (W. Va.) grabbed the individual lead from Rend Lake (Ill.) College’s David Griffin by carding a 4-under-par 68 on Day 3. Affleck’s three-day score of 210 (70-72-68) tops Griffin (212) and Jim Chung of Darton (Ga.) College (214). In the team standings, Stone Mountain (Ariz.) CC maintains a slim 1-stroke lead, 868-869, over Darton College of Georgia heading into Friday’s fourth and final round of competition. The Cavaliers of Darton College shaved five strokes off their second-round deficit with Thursday’s even-par 288. |
