EMCC's Hal Larkin shoots 78 on Day 2 of NJCAA Golf Championship Print E-mail
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Sophomore Hal Larkin of East Mississippi Community College carded a 6-over-par 78 during Wednesday’s second round of the 2009 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship being held at the par-72, 7,100-yard Goose Pond Colony Golf Course.

With his two-day total of 11-over-par 155 (77-78), Larkin stands in a nine-way tie for 76th place heading into Thursday’s third-round action.

Rend Lake (Ill.) College’s David Griffin continues to top the individual leaderboard with an 8-under-par total of 136 after shooting a 2-under-par 70 on Wednesday.  A pair of Mississippians trail the leader, as Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Corey Ward (68-71=139) and Elliott Bingham of Hinds (71-69=140) stand second and tied for third, respectively.

In the team standings, Stone Mountain (Ariz.) CC fired a 5-under-par 283 on Day 2 to move from third to first place with a two-day composite score of 575.  John A. Logan (Ill.) College (296-284=580) and first-day leader Darton (Ga.) College (290-291=581) are second and third, respectively.

The four-day tournament concludes Friday.
