EMCC's Hal Larkin shoots opening-round 77 at NJCAA Golf Championship Print E-mail
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – EMCC sophomore Hal Larkin shot a 5-over-par 77 in Tuesday’s opening round of the 2009 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship being held at the par-72, 7,100-yard Goose Pond Colony Golf Course.

A former standout at Caledonia High School, Larkin stands in a tie for 58th place with 14 other golfers.
Individually, David Griffin of Rend Lake (Ill.) College fired a 6-under-par 66 to take a 2-stroke lead over Ryan Cyplik of St. Clair County (Mich.) CC and Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Corey Ward.

In the team standings after the first day, Darton College (Ga.) owns a 1-stroke edge over Grand Rapids (Mich.) CC after totaling a 2-over-par 290 on Tuesday.  Stone Mountain (Ariz.) CC and Mississippi Gulf Coast stand a close third and fourth at 292 and 293, respectively.

The tournament continues Wednesday through Friday.
