![]() First baseman Hilton Gibson of New Hope High School has become the most recent addition to head coach Tony Montgomery’s EMCC baseball program. A 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-hander, Gibson batted .377 this past season to help lead head coach Stacy Hester’s Trojans to a 25-11 record and runner-up finish in the Class 4A North State playoffs. In earning all-district honors for the second straight year, Gibson led New Hope with three home runs and a dozen doubles as a senior, while ranking second on the team with 35 runs batted in and 38 runs scored. He also repeated as the recipient of the Trojans’ Most Valuable Offensive Player Award this year, in addition to being tabbed second-team all-state. Though primarily playing first base as the team’s senior captain, Gibson also notched a 2-0 record on the mound without allowing an earned run and giving up just three hits in seven total innings of work. Having hit .385 as an all-district first baseman his junior year, the three-year starter helped pace the New Hope Trojans to a three-year composite mark of 71-31. |
