South Panola’s Skylar Barnes has become the most recent in-state women’s basketball signee for the EMCC Lady Lions.
SCOOBA – East Mississippi women’s basketball coach Sharon Thompson has added Skylar Barnes of South Panola High School to EMCC’s list of in-state signees for the current recruiting period.

A 5-foot-11 forward for head coach Ralph Stallings’ Lady Tigers, Barnes averaged around 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals per game in helping lead SPHS to an 18-3 record as a senior.  She also shot 69 percent from the free-throw line this past season.  Her high-scoring contests in 2008-09 included 20 points against Cleveland and 16-point efforts versus Lafayette and Senatobia.

A three-year varsity starter on the basketball court for South Panola, Barnes is a member of the school’s National Honor Society and will graduate with honors.

Barnes joins previously announced in-state EMCC women’s basketball signees Keyetta Buckhalter (5-11, F, Noxubee County HS), Shanteria Tate (5-6, G, Noxubee County HS), RoTasha Windom (5-11, F, Kemper County HS), Shavantis Thomas (5-11, F, Oxford HS), Keyosha Robinson (5-7, G, Southeast Lauderdale HS), Alvionna Knox (6-1, F/C, Weir HS), Natalie Tate (5-4, G, Columbus HS), and Nashedra Barry (6-1, F, Columbus HS).
