![]() Coach Dale Peay’s Lions earned a berth in this year’s NJCAA Region 23 Golf Championship by placing third in this week’s MACJC State Championship held in Holly Springs. Battling blustery weather conditions during the two-day event, head coach Dale Peay’s Lions carded consistent rounds of 334 and 335 to finish three strokes behind runner-up Mississippi Gulf Coast. Copiah-Lincoln captured the team title with a composite 655 total (329-326) on the par-72, 6,640-yard layout. Second-team all-state selection Jordan Jamar of Bossier City, La., paced East Mississippi by finishing in a tie for fourth place (79-82—161) with MGCCC’s Corey Ward. Elliott Bingham of Hinds earned individual medalist honors with a 1-stroke victory (158-159) over Co-Lin’s Derin Petite. Belmont’s Trey Adams tied for 11th place individually (84-81—165), while Brandon’s Garrett Alford finished in a 19th-place tie for the Lions. Caledonia’s Hal Larkin, EMCC’s other second-team all-state performer this spring, tied for 27th with a 174 effort (87-87). East Mississippi’s state tournament scorecard was rounded out by Will Black of Calhoun City with a 31st-place showing (91-85—176).
