.jpg "Image") Eric House House assists Rose with the Lions’ offensive strategies, serving as EMCC’s third base coach during games and handling coaching duties in the areas of hitting and base running. His defensive coaching duties primarily involve working with EMCC’s outfielders. In addition to his on-the-field coaching responsibilities, House also plays a vital role in the Lions’ recruiting efforts and summer camp administration as well as in the supervision of the players’ strength and conditioning workouts. He is also charged with the day-to-day maintenance of the school’s athletic fields around the Scooba campus. During his volunteer coaching role at Troy, House was a member of Bobby Pierce’s coaching staff that compiled a two-year record of 79-44, including a Sun Belt Conference regular-season title and NCAA Regional Tournament appearance in 2011. The year prior, Troy posted a 36-25 record and advanced to the championship game of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. While at Troy, House worked with the team’s outfielders and hitters while also serving as the Trojans’ first base coach. Along with his on-field duties, he helped coordinate on-campus recruiting and assisted with travel arrangements. Prior to recently gaining two years of experience at the Division I level, House spent four years at NAIA member Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn. A former junior college standout for head coach Steve Cornelison at Jackson State Community College in Tennessee, House played two seasons at Trevecca Nazarene before staying on for two more years at his alma mater as a graduate assistant coach. While earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from TNU, House worked with the team’s outfielders as well as assisting in the areas of hitting, strength and conditioning, recruiting, and scouting. With House serving as a second-year graduate assistant coach on Jonathan Burton’s 2009 Trevecca Nazarene staff, the 35-23 Trojans finished as runners-up in the TranSouth Athletic Conference regular-season standings and advanced to the championship game of the TSAC Tournament. The previous season on Chris Collins’ coaching staff, the 2008 Trojans were 37-16 en route to claiming the regular-season conference title and making an appearance in the NAIA Region XI Tournament. In his two seasons as a letter-winning outfielder and team captain at Trevecca Nazarene, House helped lead the Trojans to a two-year combined record of 86-38-1 and back-to-back NAIA Region XI Tournament appearances. After hitting .305 with 12 extra-base hits and 8-of-9 in the stolen base department as a junior for head coach Jeff Forehand’s regional tournament runners-up, House batted .348 with a dozen doubles, 41 runs batted in and eight more stolen bases as a senior for Collins’ TSAC regular-season championship ballclub in 2007. A native of Old Hickory, Tenn., House prepped at Goodpasture High School in Madison, Tenn. A member of the American Baseball Coaches Association, House is the son of David and Susan House of Old Hickory. His younger brother, Tyler, is a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee. |
