LaDarius Johnson

A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Greenville, Johnson will play center mid-field for the EMCC Lions. Johnson will major in biochemistry and plans a career as a physician, with a specialty in oncology. Shane Hood

Soccer player Shane Hood, left, has signed with East Mississippi Community College in Scooba. The son of Mike and Laura Hood of Amory, he is shown on signing day with his mother and EMCC head soccer coach Junior Noel. Ben Fleming, co-captain of East Mississippi Community College’s 2007-08 baseball team, has signed with Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga., where he will play for coach Matt Griffin. A graduate of New Hope High School in Columbus, Ben Fleming is the son of Walter Fleming, and David and Kathi Coleman, and the grandson of Denny and Bessie Fleming of Quitman. Over his two-year career at EMCC, Fleming maintained a .350 batting average – with 300 trips to the plate, 105 hits, 22 doubles, four triples and 17 home runs. He had 90 RBI’s, was 26 for 28 on stolen base attempts and his on-base percentage was .490. Fleming plans to major in exercise science at Southern Polytechnic.
